Annual event honors scholarship recipients, donors
Texas A&M University-Kingsville celebrated its student scholarship recipients and honored the donors that make it
possible at the 4th annual Javelina for Life Scholarship Dinner held November 3.
Nearly 350 people were on hand for the event, which was held on the A&M-Kingsville campus. Many students had the opportunity to meet and personally thank those who funded their scholarship, engage in scholarly conversation, and have their photo taken together. The event enabled students to learn more about the meaning, mission and benefactors behind their scholarships.

Each year, the JAA awards five scholarships to students in the amount of $1,000 each ($500 per semester). We are

CCYC celebrates 70 years of caring for Kingsville's youth
The children come and go as does the staff, but the Marc Cisneros Center for Young Children (CCYC) at Texas A&M 
University-Kingsville has been an integral part of the lives of countless children in Kingsville for 70 years. They celebrated that accomplishment with a Family Fiesta 70th anniversary party and open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. The center is located on the university campus at 1113 W. Santa Gertrudis.
Former university president Marc Cisneros for whom the center was named was present for the event as were past and present staff and student alumni. One such past student observer was Mrs. Joyce Mooney, the CCYC guest speaker for the event, who spoke of her lab work done at the nursery school in 1942. Read more
Alumni golf tournament raises more than $48,000
On Sept. 24, alumni and friends of the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering held a golf tournament to raise funds for the college. The event, which was hosted by American Petroleum Institute and EOG Resources, raised $48,820, which was presented to Dr. Stephan Nix, dean of the college.

JAA lifetime members were recently presented with a javelina statue as a thank you for their commitment to the JAA and the university. The statue was designed by Charles Wissinger, an associate professor and director of the art program in the College of Arts & Sciences.
