Texas A&M-Kingsville Choral Groups
Offer First Concert October 23

KINGSVILLE (October 10, 2008) — The Texas A&M University-Kingsville music department will host the first choral concert of the season at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall in the Bellamah Music Building.

The concert is entitled Of Poet’s Gloss – Voices in Verse and features poems or other written word that have been set to music. The public will hear the Concert Choir, Jazz Singers and spotlight soloists.

The music presented spans from the Renaissance to the 21st century and includes composers Johannes Brahms, René Clausen, John Lennon, Jacob Arcadelt and others. Texts set by the composers originate from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Among the texts presented are the works of Walt Whitman, W.B. Yeats, Elizabeth Jones, John Lennon and others.
