KINGSVILLE (July 8, 2008) — The campus of Texas A&M University-Kingsville will be one of the places in South Texas visited by the C-SPAN Campaign 2008 bus as it makes a tour of the country prior to the November elections. The brightly painted bus will be parked in front of Eckhardt Hall on University Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10.
The 45-foot mobile production studio is making the rounds around the country to promote the 2008 election and to hear from the campus community. "We will be interviewing college students, asking what issues are important to the in the upcoming election," said Doug Hemmig, marketing representative for C-SPAN. "The interviews then can be seen on our You Tube and C-SPAN websites."
The bus is also home to a classroom where middle school and high school teachers can learn how to use C-SPAN as a teaching tool through the C-SPAN Classroom. The Campaign 2008 bus and its crew is available through out the school year to visit schools, making presentations about the political process and C-SPAN's coverage of politics.
So far this election year, the Road to the White House bus tour has stopped at major political events in battleground states as well as touring the state capitals.
Before it stops on campus, the Campaign 2008 bus will visit with the Kingsville Breakfast Rotary Club at their 7 a.m. meeting
